Full or Partial Property Tax Exemption:
Once someone receives Social Security disability benefits, he/she may be able to apply for a disability exemption on their property taxes and may qualify for a full or partial exemption depending on factors other than age or disability.  Applications are usually accepted from October 1 to December 31.  To apply, bring evidence of social security disability benefit, copy of current year state and federal income tax forms, and a letter from your physician indicating total and permanent disability to your local tax assessor's office.

Handicapped Parking:
You may also qualify for a handicap parking permit in Alabama (e.g., Jefferson County website; http://www.jeffcointouch.com/jeffcointouch/departments/Revenue/permitslicenses/P3.asp )

You may also qualify to obtain an Alabama Disability License Tag
